Dear CGHS Class of 2006 Brethren,
This is your friend and brother Victor. How are you guys? As you know, this day marks the twelfth year of our high school graduation from Cedar Grove High School. You've heard it right, it has been twelve years straight! For some reason, I have decided to make this day day a annual special commemoration. So I would like for us to stop whatever we're doing, and reflect on the very day. Let me take you back. Just close your eyes and visualize the good times we had together on May 27, 2006 as I paint the picture of the scene for you. Buckle your seatbelts, because I'm about to give you a ride on Memory Lane. So let's cherish the moments...
On that very day, we arrived at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church where our graduation ceremony was held and took place. Once we walked in the church building, we approached this room which resembles a large classroom and a small congregational church. Since we were so excited, we were told that we could "get it out of our systems." so we did.made our joyful noises. We received our graduation stoles to put around our necks. We then lined up in front of the door on the other side of the room to proceed to another entrance where we lined up in two straight lines. My mom was so happy, do she decided to take a picture with us.
After we waited for a few minutes, we then proceed to walk with each other in two straight lines into the sanctuary while the tune "Pomp and Circumstance" was playing. We took our place in the core stand which we were given the signal to sit down on cue. And the ceremony began. The pledge was said, we sung our Alma Mater, we even sang a Gospel selection "I Am Here" by Donald Lawrence. My grandmother told me that she enjoyed that moment. Our principal spoke on our behalf to the audience, we received our diploma folders, and lastly, we tossed our caps in the air. Yes, we were really having a happy moment. When it was over, we walked with each other to exit the sanctuary as a recessional.
Once we exited the church building, we were being congratulated by our families, friends, and even strangers. Hands were extended for handshakes, kisses and hugs were exchanged, pictures were taken, and more autographs were signed. I was extremely overjoyed and happy that we graduated, so I have deemed the day as the "proudest day of my life." There were even tears of joy and happiness. God has blessed us tremendously and beyond measure.
Even though we parted ways back then, you guys still have a special place in my heart. I love you guys unconditionally. Add mentioned earlier, it use the twelfth anniversary. As usual, stay on top of your game everyday. Don't back down for anyone, not even for our adversary the devil. Let's continue to pray for one another. As the hymn writer John Fawcett wrote the famous hymn "Blest Be the Tie That Binds", we will be Friends Forever!
Yours in Christ,
Victor Kendrick II (Bro. Vick)
P.S. I know you are probably wondering what I'm doing almost everyday now. Well, I go to class every twice a week trying to earn this General Educational Development diploma so I can set foot into college. If you've been praying for me, I truly appreciate it. Please continue to pray for me. And I'm still writing my memoir. If the Lord will, I would like for to get together so you can receive an autographed copy of my book. Peace, Tranquility, Serenity, & Many Blessings. God Bless You All!
COLOSSIANS 3:12-13 - "Put on therefore, add the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so do also ye."
